Prom season comes to a close

Even though the calendar tells us that spring arrived over a month ago, late daffodil blooms and grass just barely tall enough to mow tell us warmer weather is finally here in Northwest Ohio.
One of the surest signs of spring is high school students all gussied up in formal wear: girls with updos and sparkly gowns; guys in tuxes and even cowboy hats and feather boas. This year, local gyms and multipurpose rooms were transformed into Roaring 20s speakeasies, board games, royal courtyards and discos.
Fort Jennings and Columbus Grove launched the 2014 Putnam County high school prom season on April 16. No less than four junior and senior proms took place on April 26 at Ottoville, Miller City-New Cleveland, Pandora-Gilboa and Ottawa-Glandorf. Kalida, Leipsic and Continental wrapped up the festivities on May 3.
From gowns and tuxes gracing the Boardwalk, dancing through the Gumdrop Pass or parading along the Champs-Élysées, here are images captured from each of the county's promenades.
