PUTNAM COUNTY — Nine Putnam County football players learned Thursday evening they were named first or second team all-Northwest District by a panel of media that cover football in Northwest Ohio.

The nine players that received all-district first or second teams were split evenly between Ottawa-Glandorf, Pandora-Gilboa and Leipsic.

P-G junior Jared Breece was named one of the top players in the Division VII voting as he was named co-Offensive Player of the Year. Breece shared the award with Crestview quarterback Drew Kline. During the regular season Breece threw for 1,818 yards with 23 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He was 118-of-189 in the passing department and he rushed for 640 yards and 10 touchdowns in leading the Rockets to an 8-2 record.

Since then Breece has led the Rockets to two playoff wins and a spot in this Friday's Division VII, Region 26 championship game against Norwalk St. Paul.

Two of Breece's teammates received first team honors in senior receiver Carter Nofziger and senior offensive lineman Ethan Steiner.

Leipsic had three players named to the Division VII second team in senior Corey Plassman, offensive lineman, senior Noah Puente, defensive lineman, and senior Brayden Niese at linebacker.

O-G senior Richie Knowlton was named to the Division V first team offense as a receiver. Senior Daniel Beemer was named to the second team offense as a running back and senior Bret Llewellyn was named to the second team defense as a lineman.

Ten players from the county received Honorable Mention all-district honors in Tristen Ball, O-G, Blake Reynolds, Riley Schumacher, Caleb Barrientes and Enoch Jones, all from Columbus Grove, Cole Rieman, Leipsic, Josh Wauters, Josh Shartell, Travis Maag and Zeb George, all from Pandora-Gilboa.
