PANDORA — Every two years the Riley Creek Singers, local talent from Putnam, Allen and Hancock counties, present a popular musical at the Pandora-Gilboa School. This year marks their tenth musical. The Rogers & Hammerstein musical, “South Pacific” will be held at the school auditeria on Aug. 8, 9 and 10.

This year, male singers were needed to portray WWII Army, Navy and Marine characters. This musical offers comedy, drama and two love stories.

In addition an orchestra filled with talented musicians will provide music during the musical. The vocal and orchestra director is Jim Oberhaus.

Kevin Augsburger, director, and Valerie Nusbaum, assistant director, are the driving force that keep the musical fresh and entertaining each year.

The cast include individuals from various professions including teachers, nurses, a pharmacist, baker, farmers, tire store manager, former flight attendant, bar and grill owner, factory workers etc. Every two years the call goes out for local singers and actors to bring entertainment into a small community.

The Riley Creek Singers will present South Pacific at the Pandora-Gilboa Auditeria on Friday, Aug. 8, Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10. It will be at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at the Riley Creek Pharmacy in Pandora. For more information call 419-384-3309.
