19th Annual Farm Safety event held in Putnam County

As part of the 19th Annual Farm Safety Event held on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17 and 18, third-graders from St. Anthony’s, Columbus Grove and Pandora Elementary Schools observed the county’s first responders in action during a mock ATV accident.

The dangers of electricity were graphically presented during a Paulding/Putnam Electric Cooperative demonstration when a hot dog was cooked with current.

During a Soil and Water Conservation District presentation on the proper use of chemicals, county kids learned how best to avoid contamination.

During the 19th Annual Farm Safety event — held at the Dale Gerdeman Farm on Tuesday and Wednesday — the moving parts of farm machinery, and how best to avoid them, was one of nearly a dozen presentations offered to county third-graders.
