OTTAWA —The Ottawa Car-E-It is planning an event to help the homeless pets of Putnam County. On Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the shop on Ottawa's Main Street (US 224) will turn a portion of its parking lot into a fundraising expo that will include an adopt-a-thon, a bake sale, raffles and a car wash.

According to adopt-a-thon organizer Mary Maglinte, various local animal shelters, including the Putnam County Dog Shelter, will be on hand with adoptable pets in need of forever friends and loving homes. Each organization will have the information and forms necessary to complete adoption.

If you or someone you know enjoys baking, Maglinte invites them to donate baked goods to be sold in the bake sale. Anyone wishing to have their car washed can make that happen by making a donation. Vehicles should enter from Second Street and will be washed on the side alleyway beside the store.

For more information, send an email to If you would like to put your name on the list for baked good donations, please let her know no later than Wednesday, July 16.
