Columbus Grove fire fighter honored for training

Columbus Grove fireman Jeff Vance was honored for his effort to learn special training to help farmers. The training consists of learned to help or save farmers from a grain bin if they would fall in."The Fort Jennings-Gomer Elevator asked me to take the training. I thought it would be great to learn because I have always wanted to learn how to repel from heights. The training consist of one day class room learning about ropes, knots, safety harness, confined space, mechanical advantage with ropes and different types of ropes and there limitations.The next three days we worked on evolutions of confined space rescue and rescuing a victim off the top of grain bens,elevated platforms,grain legs and confined spaces and grain bin entrapment," said Vance
