COLUMBUS GROVE - On June, 29, 2012, Columbus Grove saw the demise of a popular downtown business, Christie's on the Square, in last year's derecho. Though many had hopes the owners would be able to reopen, it proved impossible and the building had to be demolished.

"The loss of that building has left a void in the center of our village," said Grove Mayor Ken Wright. "But Dave and Christie Tabler have graciously and generously donated that land to the village."
Plans are currently underway to turn the property into a small park area, to help beautify Grove's downtown.
"On behalf of the village of Columbus Grove, I would like to publicly thank Dave and Christie for their generosity," said Mayor Wright. "While we all greatly miss Christie's on the Square, we will enjoy the beauty of the new park once it is finished."
