Fatal accident takes the life of an Ottawa man

OTTAWA - According to a press release from the Ohio State Patrol, a fatal crash occurred on State Route 65 between Ottawa and Columbus Grove on December 13 at approximately 10 p.m.The post reports that 53 year old John W. Solomon of Ottawa was northbound on State Rotue 65 near Road P-9 driving a delivery van when 21 year old Christopher Yohe of Ottawa tried to pass the van while travelling along Route 65. After passing the Solomon vehicle, Yohe drove into the path of a southbound semi driven by 32 year old Jimmy D. Clarke of North Vernon, Indiana.
The Yohe vehicle was pushed back into the northbound lane, after striking the semi, where Yohe's vehicle was then struck by the northbound Solomon vehicle. All three vehicles went off the east side of the road and came to rest.
Clarke was taken to St. Rita's Lima and Solomon was taken to the Ottawa Ambulatory Care by EMS. Yohe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Putnam County Coroner.
The Lima Post was assisted by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Ottawa Fire and Rescue, Columbus Grove Fire and Rescue and Putnam County ODOT. The crash remains under investigation.
