OTTAWA - A former Kalida car dealer learned his fate Wednesday afternoon in Putnam County court.

Randy Unverferth, Kalida, was sentenced Wednesday afternoon by a visitig judge after having pleaded guilty to theft charges.
Unverferth was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation for theft from banks. He could have faced up to four and a half years in jail on the felony theft charges he pleaded guilty to in 2011.
The theft charges stemmed from Unverferth selling cars that were purchased with loans from banks, then not repaying the loans once he had the money from customers.
The car dealership, Unverferth Motor Sales, closed in April of 2010.
