OTTAWA — The Golden Steppers will start a new season of dancing on
Tuesday, Sept. 2. Steppers classes are held at Ottawa K of C on county
road H north of Ottawa The classes will continue each Tuesday throughout
the fall and winter until Memorial Day in May, 2015.
dances for 30 minutes, takes a break, then dances another 30 minutes.
New members are invited to join the group. Come dressed comfortable,
with smoothed sole shoes, and you are ready to dance.
were originally started to provide exercise and healthy lifestyles for
Senior Citizens through a grant from the Health Dept. (Joan Kline) Pat
Meyer from Leipsic, and a group of 10 dedicated ladies made up the
original group…….Some of the original members still attend today.
group has line danced from the beginning, in parades, at festivals,
nursing homes and schools throughout the years. The group consists of 45
- 50 members that love to exercise by dancing. The dances are low
impact and easy to do. It is easy to have fun too!
They have found
that there are many types of music to dance too, not just Country. This
group have came together on a social basis also, and has grown from
word of mouth. They have many members that are family members, mom and
daughters, sisters and sister in laws and Friends.
The group also holds one or two social events for the members each dance season.
Steppers covers all ages ( mostly they are retired from many
occupations) up to age 90 or more, no one is too old. We are looking to
expand our membership and would like to extend the invitation to anyone
who would like to join us, young and young at heart, male or female.
if you are looking for a fun, low impact way to exercise come out and
join us. If you are new to this type of activity they are willing to
work with you.
