KALIDA — Beginning August 1 two Putnam County Schools will have new
superintendents. On Wednesday evening, Kalida School Board approved
hiring Karl Lammers as the new superintendent of Kalida Local Schools.
He will become superintendent on August 1, taking the place of Donald
Horstman who has accepted a position as superintendent at
Ottawa-Glandorf Local Schools.
Lammers is currently the elementary principal at Kalida Elementary School. He has held that position since June 1999.
Kalida Board gave Lammers a three-year contract as superintendent. They
also accepted the resignation of Horstman as superintendent at the same
meeting. Horstman will begin his duties at Ottawa-Glandorf on August 1.
was approved as the new superintendent during a special Ottawa-Glandorf
School Board meeting on Saturday, May 17, following a two-month search
to find a replacement for the district's outgoing superintendent, Kevin
Horstman served as the Kalida Local School District
Superintendent for the past six years and as high school principal for
the preceding five. The Ottawa-Glandorf School Board approved a
three-year contract for Horstman.
Horstman said the Kalida school board will now be looking for a new elementary principal.
