LEIPSIC - Leipsic's Board of Education took the time to congratulate four juniors that represented the school at a recent math contest.
Stan Gerten, the math teacher at the high school took four Leipsic juniors to ONU for a Math Awareness day. The juniors competed in a math contest and came back home with a second place metal. The only school to score above them was Bellefountaine.
Superintendent, Greg Williamson took time to congratulate both the volleyball and football teams in their recent tournament action.
"We all know that one team always had to loose, but we are very proud of both of the teams. They really created a lot of community pride. Being a small community, a lot of people go to the games and it really shows the best side of Leipsic," said Williamson.
Other updates from Williamson included the Race to the Top committees. Teachers were recently split into committees for the Race to to Top.
Williamson finished his report saying " Our goal is to have each teacher perform a lesson from their iPad and use wireless technology to their Epson Boards."
The school board was also asked to approve the list of upcoming fundraisers for the the school clubs for the upcoming quarter.
The following supplemental contracts were approved per the athletic director's recommendation and approved by the high school principal: Nate Schroeder, as seventh grade boys basketball coach; Trevor Schroeder, eight grade boys basketball coach; Sam Soehnlein, ninth grade boys basketball coach; and Jennifer Langhals, as volunteer JH girls basketball coach.
The next Leipsic Board of Education meeting will be held on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Media Center at Leipsic School.
