Paulding-Putnam update on power restoration
Wednesday, July 04, 2012 8:58 AM
Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative is still experiencing widespread power outages due to the intense system of storms that devastated our area on last Friday afternoon. All available crews, including additional crews from Michigan and Northwestern Electric in Bryan, are working as quickly and safely as possible every day in order to restore power to your home! All work teams are in force on July 4th as another full workday!
As of Wednesday, the number of members without power has continued to decline. Currently, approximately 3,900 of the cooperative's 13,000 members are without service. If you have access to a computer or know someone who does, please check the website at www.ppec.coop for additional substation updates.
Power has been restored to PPEC customers in Indiana. In Ohio the areas where power has been restored include Cecil, Antwerp, Oakwood, Continental, south side of Ottoville and the majority of customers in the Kalida area. If you live in these areas and do not have power, call 800-686-2357.
American Electric Power and AEP Ohio said it could be several days before all transmission service is restored. Members who live in the areas served by the following substations should make alternative arrangements in preparation for an extended outage: Latty, Miller City, Columbus Grove, Ottoville, Van Wert and Convoy.
Please remember that any and all power lines should be considered dangerous and "live". Do not walk near or drive over lines that are hanging low or on the ground.
Governor Kasich's office has declared a state of emergency for our area, we will continue to bring you updates as they become available.
