OTTAWA — The agencies of the Putnam County Crisis Assistance Network will collect and distribute basic school supplies again this year for children who might otherwise go to school without the tools they need to succeed. The 11th annual “Putnam County Back-to-school Giveaway” will take place at the Putnam County Educational Service Center, on Monday, Aug 11. To receive free school supplies, qualifying families may acquire a referral form at Putnam County Job and Family Services.

Groups and individuals interested in helping provide school supplies should contact the United Way for information at 419-523-4505. Cash donations are welcomed and will be used to purchase school supplies for the giveaway. Checks may be made payable to: United Way/Back-to-School. Mail to PO Box 472 Ottawa.

The United Way will host “Stuff the Bus” on Friday, Aug 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug 9 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in front of Ottawa Walmart. The community is invited to bring donations to help stuff a school bus full of school supplies. Volunteers are needed to help both days of Stuff the Bus. Contact Jeanne at United Way for details.
