COLUMBUS GROVE - The Columbus Grove Community Scholarship Fund in Memory of Wilma and Dick Rimer announces the winners of the 2013 scholarships. First place of $1000 was awarded to Heidi Stechschulte, second place of $500 was awarded to Alexa Halker, and (2) third place winners of $250 were Nick Schimiesing and Rachel Schroeder. The scholarship fund was started in 2005 when Dick Rimer gave the Columbus Grove Area Chamber of Commerce (2) five hundred dollar bills with his intentions to organize a scholarship fund for graduates of Columbus Grove High School. With an auction of the bills to Chamber members the fund almost immediately grew from $1000 to almost $2000. The first year the chamber was able to award $800 to the winner, with the subsequent years showing growth due to people donating money in memory of the recently deceased, the Scholarship Fund has grown to the point that total awards have grown to $2000 per year.
The next meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be held at 7:30 on Aug. 16 at the Columbus Grove VFW Lodge.
