OTTAWA - The public is invited to join in on the festivities of the 2013 United Way of Putnam County campaign kickoff events. The first event of the year takes place at Putnam County's Haunted Cornfield on Friday the 13th. This one-day fundraising event is the 2013 season premiere on Friday September 13 from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM. This family-friendly event will include pumpkin painting, three spooky attractions and shooting of the "Corn Cannon" for prizes. Admission is $6 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the United Way.
The annual campaign Kick-Off luncheon will be held on Thursday, September 19. This event officially marks the beginning of United Way's fundraising efforts. The Kick-off will be held at the Red Pig Inn and the public is invited. Reservations are required.
United Way Campaign Chairman, Mike Schumaker, First Federal Bank, Community Banking Center Manager, will emcee the event. Schumaker will announce the 2013 fundraising goal and campaign theme, introduce the 2013 campaign volunteers, and announce the results of the Pacesetter campaigns already held or currently underway. The 2013 Pacesetter companies include Fortman Insurance Services, Pro-Tec Coating Company, First Federal Bank, and Kalida Manufacturing Company.
