Water rescue performed near Continental

CONTINENTAL - A Continental resident had their vehicle become submerged in high water after driving around a road closed sign early Sunday morning.According to Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Brecht, at 12:09 a.m. Sunday morning they received a 911 call of a vehicle stuck in the water on Road I-23, just east of Road 24.
According to the report, Nikolas E. Louiselle, 23, Continental, was driving westbound on Road I-23 when he drove around a high water sign and into a flooded area of the road. The vehicle was mostly submerged, but Louiselle was able to exit the vehicle on his own. He was not injured.
Assisting the sheriff's office at the scene was the Continental Fire Department and Continental Water Rescue.
The incident remains under investigation.
