GLANDORF - Nancy Schmitz, 71, of Glandorf, died 2:40 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Rita's Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center. She was born Oct. 27, 1942 in Bowling Green, OH, to the late Laurel Phillips and Vivian (Rife) Phillips. On Aug. 6, 2005 she married Ronald Schmitz, who survives in Glandorf.
Survivors also include three daughters: Dawn (Brian) Reino of Schnecksville, PA, Amber (Charlie) Pump of Fremont, OH, and Amy (Ryan) Shilling of Raeford, NC; 10 step-children: Richard (Susan) Schmitz, David (Kathy) Schmitz, Dorothy (Clark) Skinner, Jodi (Brian) Ruen, Sherri (Kurt) Niekamp, Gary (Lisa) Fessenmeyer, Shellie(Charlie) Rice, Lori Fessenmeyer, Valerie Wolf, and Roger (Lynette) Fessenmeyer; a brother: Laurel Phillips of Fremont, OH; a sister: Denise (John) Kerlin of Fremont, OH; 26 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchild.
Nancy is a retired medical secretary, who also spent time as a volunteer for Hospice. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, gardening, and she loved animals.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin 10 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Glandorf with Fr. Tony Fortman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where a scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m.
