OTTAWA - Charles H. "Chuck" McComas, 80, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  He was born October 5, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa to the late Victor and Ethel (Hillman) McComas.  On September 5, 1953, he married Joan Chapin who survives in Ottawa.

   Charles is also survived by his three children: Greg (Diana) McComas of Beverly Hills, Michigan, Joni (Dave) Kuhlman of Ottawa and Julie (Mark) Borer of Glandorf; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister: Carol (Terry) Steenberg of Burlington, Iowa and a special cousin: June (Dick) Stoermer of Burlington, Iowa.

   Charles retired in 1989 from the former Phillips of Ottawa after 38 years.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa where he helped with the Food Pantry.  He was a member of Ottawa Fire Department for 16 years, Quarter Century Club, took films for the Ottawa-Glandorf sports, enjoyed woodworking, fishing and most of all his grandchildren's sporting events. Chuck loved his "Happy Tuesdays" with his family and friends. 

   A  funeral service will begin 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2014 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, with Pastor Lynda Lockwood officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Ottawa.   Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

   Memorials may be given to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.
