Don Rampe - Putnam Sentinel

KALIDA — Don Rampe, 65, of Kalida died 1:47 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at St Rita's Medical Center in Lima. He was born November 22, 1952 in Lima to the late Harold S. and Mildred (Sanders) Rampe.

Don graduated from Kalida High School in 1971 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He then attended the ITT Technical Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and became a skilled tool & die engineer at Unverferth Manufacturing in Kalida, where he worked for 45 years, until his retirement in March, 2017. Don was an American Society of Agriculture Engineers member, a Kalida Lions Club member for 40 years, and an Honor Guard Member at the American Legion Post 63.

On June 16, 1979 Don married Connie Kahle, who survives. Rarely seen apart, the two spent much of their time over the years making new friends and enjoying life together in beautiful Lake Charlevoix and Traverse City in upstate Michigan.

Don is also survived by his sisters and brother: Jennifer (Keith Vennekotter) Jeffers of Glandorf, Mary (Mert) Brickner of Kalida, and Tom (Nancy) Rampe of Kalida. Don enjoyed spending time with his numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Don helped the lives of many in his 65 years, and has continued to do so as an organ donor.

A Memorial Service will be 8:30 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Twp. with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2 - 8:30 p.m. at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Twp. Memorials may be given to the Kalida Park and Lifeline of Ohio.
