OTTAWA - Donald Gibson, 91 of Ottawa died at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
He was born Nov. 30, 1920 in Detroit, Mich. to the late George and Anna Maude (Sutton) Gibson. On Oct. 15, 1947, he married Rita Ricker and she survives in Ottawa.Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Gibson of Lima, Donald "Butch" Gibson, Jr. of Swanton and John Gibson of Leipsic; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death also by three brothers, Elmer, Robert and David Gibson; and two sisters, Mildred Benton and Virginia Bell.
Don retired in 1981 after 33 years with Philips Display Components formerly of Ottawa. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and a World War II Navy veteran serving on the USS McDougal. He was a life member of the Ottawa VFW and American Legion. Golf was his passion and he was a lifelong member of Pike Run Golf Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Alfons Minja officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.
