KALIDA - Donald Holtkamp, 88, of Kalida died, 3:14 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born October 27, 1925, in Kalida, to the late Henry W. and Irene M. (Unverferth) Holtkamp. On Jan. 28, 1956 he married Virginia Schroeder who survives in Kalida. 

    Don is also survived by his two children: Ann Holtkamp and Bob (Jill) Holtkamp both of Kalida; three grandkids: Brian Knott, Summer Holtkamp, Trevor Holtkamp; a great-grandson: Carson Knott; and a sister Rita (Denny) Maag of Kalida. 

    He was preceded in death by four siblings: Irma Krouse, Dorothy Smith, Eugene Holtkamp, and Joanne Pequignot. 

   Don was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida. He was a co-owner of Holtkamp Fortman Hardware, Kalida. He was a member of the Kalida Volunteer Fire Department, Ottawa Eagles, Ottawa American Legion, and St. Michael's Holy Name. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the European Theatre. 

   A Memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kalida, with Fr. Mark Hoying and Fr. Elmer Wurth officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 25, 2014 at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Twp., from 2 to 8 p.m.

   Memorial donations may be made to the Kalida Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association.
