NEW CLEVELAND - Elmer J. Gable, 78, of New Cleveland died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday Oct. 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born March 23, 1935 in New Cleveland to the late Edward and Florence (Recker) Gable. He married Carolyn "Annie" Zeller on Jan. 24,1959 and she survives in New Cleveland.
Also surviving are 2 sons: Tom (Pam) Gable of Ottawa, Tim (Diane) Gable of Leipsic; 3 daughters: Barbara (Tom) Deepe , Diane (Don) Schmenk, and Julie (Byron) Maag all of Leipsic; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother: Carl (Christine) Gable of Ottawa; and a sister: Eileen Kohls of Ottawa. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Arnold Gable and Robert Gable and a grandson: Austin Deepe.
Elmer was a lifelong dairy farmer and an Army National Guard veteran. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church New Cleveland and former member of the Church Council and the Holy Aid Society. He was also a member of the Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Dairy Farmers of America, a former Zoning Board member for Ottawa Township, and a former board member of the Farm Bureau. Elmer's true enjoyment was being with his family at the Cottage at Hemlock Lake in Michigan.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland with Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Nove. 4, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a scripture service at 2 p.m. and a K of C Rosary at 8 p.m.
