LAKEVIEW — James J. Walker, 85, died 4:25 am Monday Feb. 3, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.

 

He was born Aug. 12, 1928 in Miller City to Martin and Ruth (Noirit) Walker, who preceded him in death.

 

On April 27, 1957 he married Edna Mae Hermiller, who preceded him in death, Nov. 2, 1979.

 

Jim was a 1948 graduate of St. Peter & Paul School, Ottawa, and a graduate of Purdue with a degree in Electrical Engineering.   He owned and operated Jim's TV, Ottawa, and actually sold the first Color TV in Putnam County.  He was an avid Ohio State Fan, enjoyed fishing...."He was a man of many hats."

 

He is survived by four sons, Jeffery (Candy) Walker, Galion, Ohio; Alan (Juanita) Walker, Covington, Ohio; Jon (Lisa) Walker, Columbus Grove, Ohio and Douglas (Michelle) Walker, Columbus Grove; one daughter, Trena (friend Lee), Lima; eleven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Felter, Leipsic; Joyce (Ken) Warnimont, Leipsic; and three sisters in-law, Ethel Walker, Ottawa; Mildred Murphy, Covina, California and Rose Mary "Bobbie" McCrate, Columbus Grove.

 

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Walker and a sister Jane (Bill) Kruse.

 

Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home.  Where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

 

Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove.  The Rev. Tom Extejt will officiate.  Burial with military rites  will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony School Endowment Fund.
