Jan Kiene - Putnam Sentinel

COLUMBUS GROVE — Janice “Jan” A. Kiene, 81, of Columbus Grove died at 1:29 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf.

She was born January 5, 1936 in Bowling Green to the late Aubrey and Margaret (Johann) Johnson.

Survivors include three children, Elizabeth (Robert) Selhorst of Pandora, and Michael (Elaine) Kiene and Margaret “Missy” Yates, both of Columbus Grove; seven grandchildren, Erin, Erika, Levi, Evan, Addie, Jori, and Claire; a great-grandson, Rhett; five siblings, Norman Johnson of San Diego, CA, Carl (Reva) Johnson, Marilyn Slatton, and Margaret Kimball, all of Bowling Green, and Doris (James) Mathias of Maumee.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth Yates.

Jan was a registered nurse retiring from St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima where she started in 1957 as a surgical nurse. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. She graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing, Toledo. She was a local artist, calligrapher, and wood carver.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove with Fr. Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Columbus Grove with a Scripture Service at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
