OTTAWA - LaVern N. Kuhlman, 74, of Ottawa, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 17, 1938, in Leipsic, to the late Wilfred "Bill" and Anna Mae (Doepker) Kuhlman. On Aug. 26, 1988, he married, Bertha Hoffman. She died June 20, 2011.
Survivors include: four step children; seven step grandchildren; 15 step great-grandchildren; siblings, Ron (Marie) Kuhlman of Kalida, Adrian (Pat) Kuhlman of Ayersville, Joanne Schmitz of Glandorf, Steve Kuhlman of Ottawa and Joyce (Jon) Smith of The Woodlands of Texas; five nieces and nine nephews; and his companion, Margie Smith of Deshler.
LaVern retired from General Motors of Defiance in 1996 after 37 years. He attended Leipsic High School. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Ottawa and Leipsic Eagles, Findlay Moose, and a social member of the Ottawa and Leipsic VFW.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10 a.m., Thursday, June 20, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Leipsic.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa where a K of C rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
