GILBOA - Larry A. Phillips, 70, of Gilboa died at 8:11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012 at his residence.
He was born July 2, 1942 in Bluffton to the late Harvey and Lida "Chloe" (Neuenschwander) Phillips. On March 14, 1963 he married Hazel Messer who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are two children, Greg (Tracey) Phillips of Gilboa and Lanette (Craig) Closson of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Heidi Phillips, Jessica Silye, Samantha Phillips, Eli Phillips, Tesse Paniagua, and Jordan Closson.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Phillips.
Larry retired after 37 years from Louisiana-Pacific and was a farmer. He was a member of Ottawa Eagles; Indian Lake Moose; Ottawa Sons of the American Legion; Leipsic Fishing and Hunting Club, Tri-State Gun Collectors; NRA and a social member of the Ottawa VFW. He was a special police officer for the Ottawa Police Department for 20 years.
A Celebration of Life was held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. Burial will be at a later date in Harman Cemetery.
