Maynard W. Macke

Maynard W. Macke, 75, of Mansfield passed away Nov. 10, 2013 at his home.
Maynard was born Sept. 18, 1938 in Lima to Louis and Anna Mura Macke. He attended Xavier and Ohio State University and operated the Pandora Canning Company with his father for many years. He was then Police Chief of Glandorf, Ohio, ran his own commercial radio sales business, and later retired as an electrical engineer from Sprint. He was a past boy scout and leader, was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Association of Old Crowes, and ARRL. Maynard was an amateur radio buff and a railroading and model railroad enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years Miriam Gepfrey Macke of Mansfield; children Keith Macke of Michigan, Laura (Robert) Chesher of Boulder, CO, Kevin (Samantha) Macke of Cleveland Heights; grandchildren Emily, Grace, Lilly, Fiona, Myles; sisters Theresa Macke of Ottawa, Marilyn McCann of Prestwood, Scotland, Barbara Macke of Ottawa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy.
Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in McCartyville later that day.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Catholic Charities Food Bank, or MedCentral Hospice.
