OTTAWA - Norbert P. Rieman, 67, of Ottawa died at 4:36 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born Feb. 28, 1946 in Lima to the late Felix and Cathrine (Erhart) Rieman. On June 15, 1968 he married Joanna Schroeder who survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 4 children: Paul (Kimberly) Rieman of Glandorf, Thomas (Christina) Rieman, Chris Ann Rieman, and Charles (Anita) Rieman all of Ottawa; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers: Dan (Norma) Rieman of Findlay and Roger (Eileen) Rieman of Ottawa; and two sisters: Joyce (Mike) Schoonover of Lima and Rosemary Rieman. He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law: Karen Rieman.
Norbert was retired from Allied Egry in Leipsic. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa and a Vietnam Army veteran. He was a member of the Ottawa Eagles, Ottawa Knights of Columbus, and Ottawa American Legion. Norbert was involved with the Boy Scouts Troop 224 and coached Little League Baseball. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, and the Detroit Tigers. He loved being with and participating in his grandchildren's activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Matt Jozefiak and Fr. Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m. and a scripture service following the rosary. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
