LEIPSIC - Roy D. Abbott, 87, of Leipsic, died 4:35 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at The Meadows of Leipsic.
He was born July 31, 1925 in Belmore, to the late Earl and Retha (Todd) Abbott. On April 3, 1948, he married JoAnn I. Zernhel and she survives in Leipsic.
Also surviving is a brother Wilbur Abbott of Leipsic and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Abbott; and three sisters, Inez Bixler, Katherine Burbank and Erma Jean Niese.
Mr. Abbott was owner of John Deere Leipsic Farm Supply in Leipsic. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge, Battle of the Breakthrough in Hurtgen Forest in Western Germany. He was a member of St. Paul's United EUB in Deshler.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic with Kathie Tomazic officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler with military rites.
