FINDLAY - Steve E. Shoemaker, 61, of Findlay passed away peacefully at 4:55 p.m. in the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, on Sunday, Jan. 6 , 2013.
Steve was born on March 25, 1951, to Bill and Donna (Swaninger) Shoemaker. On Nov. 25, 1988, he married Jane Fredritz, and she survives in Findlay.
Steve is also survived by his mother, Donna Shoemaker of Leipsic; daughter, Brittany (J.T.) Pianetta of Fleming Island, Fla.; son Tyler (Amanda) Fredritz of Findlay; brother, Mark Shoemaker of Wilkes-Barre, Pa..; grandchildren, Allie, Emily and Kelsey Pianetta, Bryce Serin and Sammy Fredritz.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill Shoemaker, and brother Randy Shoemaker.
Steve retired from Marathon Oil in December of 2000. He co-owned and operated Innovative Telecommunications Inc. with Bruce Hankinson in Findlay and was active in the Hancock County Conservation League and was a Boy Scout volunteer.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lehtomaa Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave. Findlay. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (downtown), Msgr. Mike Hohenbrink and Rev. Tim Eding, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bridge Hospice, Cancer Patient Services, City Mission or Hope House.
