LEIPSIC - Wilbur E. Abbott, 91, of Leipsic, died 1:50 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay. He was born December 21, 1921 in Belmore to the late Earl O. and Retha (Todd) Abbott. On August 17, 1941, he married Irene Beck and she died November 17, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Larry (Tanya) Abbott of McComb; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law: JoAnn Abbott of Leipsic and Willie Abbott of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Connie Abbott; 2 brothers: Roy Abbott and Kenneth Abbott; and 3 sisters: Inez Bixler, Kathryn Burbank and Irma Jean Niese.
Wilbur was a farmer and operated a farm ditching business for 20 years. He was a member of Leipsic United Methodist Church and a member of the former Belmore United Methodist Church; a US Army WWII Veteran; member of the Farm Bureau and National Farmers Union.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic with Rev. Bill Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic with burial rites by the Leipsic American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic.
