William (Bill) Payne

FINDLAY - William (Bill) Payne, 64, of Findlay, peacefully passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2012, at Bridge Hospice Center in Findlay.
Bill was born in Lima, on April 20, 1948 to the late Charles and Marjorie (Hector) Payne. He married Jane Rieman on Nov. 8, 1969.
Surviving children include, Michelle (Mark) Updike of Ann Arbor, Mich., Lori Payne of Westerville, Tricia (Shea) Ryan of Staten Island, N. Y., and Sarah Payne of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Andrew Updike and Fiona and Aidan Ryan; loving and faithful dog, Maddie and granddog Eli. Bill has a sister, Karen (Charlie) Schmitt of Findlay; and two brothers, Jim (Carol) Payne of Florida and Jerry (Deb) Payne of McComb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lance Larson.
Bill graduated from Pandora-Gilboa High School in 1966 and graduated from Diesel School in Nashville, Tenn. Bill retired from Marathon Ashland Petroleum after 32 years and worked as a mechanic for eight years for the Findlay City Fire Department. Bill was a man of many talents. He was a gifted mechanic, coach and umpire for Young Miss Softball for many years. He served on the Marion Township Zoning Commission, was an active member of Knights of Columbus attaining the Fourth Degree of the order and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. His hobbies included gardening, landscaping, golfing, euchre player, farmer, Yankee fan and OSU fan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,
Bright Road with Monsignor Michael Hohenbrink officiating. Interment was at St. Michael Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.
The family requests that memorials be given to either St. Michael the Arch Angel Building Fund, Bridge Hospice or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
