To the editor:

Greatness and goodness can be willed out of tragedy. That was evident in Ottoville on Saturday, April 5, as the Ottoville Mother’s Club held a 5K Run/Walk for its neighboring community, Cloverdale, after it was hit by a tornado on November 17, 2013. A huge thank you goes to the Ottoville Mother’s Club for successfully planning and promoting the 5K Run/Walk. Businesses big and small from surrounding communities, as well as private individuals, who donated items for the silent auction and bake sale, we thank you. Lock 16, who prepared delicious BBQ chicken dinners, our thanks. Thanks to volunteers who helped make the Run/Walk a success. A big thanks, also, to the good people who came and supported the activities. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. Without your participation, we couldn’t continue to provide support after the storm for those in need. It didn’t tear us apart, it brought us closer together. We feel fortunate to be surrounded by caring and wonderful close-knit communities.

Our special thanks,

Judd Spencer, Mayor and the Cloverdale Task Force
