To the editor:

On behalf of the board of directors, campaign volunteers, and the 17 partner agencies of the United Way of Putnam County, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the generous pledges and contributions from the citizens of Putnam County which totals $280,781 thus far.

Many thanks go to Sue Schroeder, 2010 Campaign Chairman, and Dennis Meuleman, 2010 United Way Board President, and to all the campaign volunteers for their conscientious endeavors to make 2011 a successful year for United Way of Putnam County. Much credit is given to the leadership in various industries and organizations for another outstanding job of raising funds among their associates. We are grateful to each of these companies for their continued commitment which is vital to the well-being of our community.

At the time of this writing, the 2010 United Way campaign is at 83.8% of goal. If you have not yet contributed to this annual appeal for support, please do so soon. There are a number of ways to give. The majority of donors choose the simplest method - payroll deduction. If that is not an option for you, please mail your gift to PO Box 472 Ottawa, or stop in at the office at 118 N. Hickory Street, Ottawa. You can also give online with credit card by visiting the United Way website at www.unitedwaypc.net.

As always, 100% of the funds raised here stay here, and decisions about how funds will be allocated to the 17 partner agencies are made by a group of volunteers who live and work in Putnam County. Each year, these volunteers dedicate hours of their time to see that the funds entrusted to United Way are making the greatest possible impact in our community.

As we come to the end of another year and another fund raising campaign, the United Way Board of Directors wishes to express a special thanks to the community for 34 years of a generous spirit of giving and community support. Thank you.

Jeanne Beutler, Executive Director
