PUTNAM COUNY - The high school boys basketball season gets underway tonight as there is five games on the schedule. All five games are non-league contests that start at 6 p.m.
Among the contests tonight finds Leipsic traveling to Holgate, while Miller City hosts Tinora and Paulding comes to Continental. The Pirates season opens with Kevin Homier returning to the Pirate bench after taking a brief retirement from coaching.
Two games on the schedule tonight find Putnam County League teams matching up against Blanchard Valley Conference teams. One of those matchups has Arlington visiting Fort Jennings, while Ottoville travels to Cory-Rawson. Arlington was a state semi-finalist last season in Division IV.
Saturday night there are six more games on the schedule as Columbus Grove, Kalida and Ottawa-Glandorf begin their 2012 seasons.
