COLUMBUS GROVE - The Columbus Grove football team had to wait a little longer to take the football field Friday night, but it was well worth the wait.

A thunderstorm delayed the start of the Columbus Grove and Evergreen Friday night, but once the Bulldogs took the field they were in control as they beat their Homecoming opponent 42-8.
Riley Brubaker ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Bulldogs (1-5) and threw for another. Brubaker scored on runs of 48 and four yards in the second half and hooked up with David Bogart on a five yard scoring strike in the third quarter.
Alex Gladwell added a three yard scoring run, Tyler Schroeder returned a fumble 20 yards for a score and Bogart scored on a 55 yard run as the Bulldogs were up 21-0 at the half.
Kyle Brighton scored for Evergreen on a 66 yard pass play from Jake Williman in the third quarter.
Brubaker carried the ball 22 times for 177 yards in the game and Joey Warnecke had 87 yards on 15 carries. Brubaker was 6-of-15 passing for 56 yards. Mason Smith caught three passes for 31 yards in the game.
The Bulldog defense played well holding Evergreen to minus seven yards rushing and 129 passing yards. They also intercepted three passes in the game and forced a fumble.
Nick Eute was 8-of-19 passing for 63 yards and Williman was 1-of-1 for 66 yards as Brighton caught five passes for 111 yards for Evergreen.
