MILLER CITY - Columbus Grove denied Miller City an outright Putnam County League baseball title Wednesday evening with a 10-3 win.
The win moves the Bulldogs to 5-1 in the league and 17-3 overall. The Bulldogs have a makeup league contest with Pandora-Gilboa next week. Miller City earns at-least a share of the title as they finish at 6-1 and are 12-7 overall.
Trey Roney pitched six shutout innings Wednesday before the Wildcats touched him up for three runs in the seventh inning. Roney struck out six and walked one.
Roney helped himself at the plate with two singles and a double. Matt Jay, Brandon Benroth, Trent Vorst and Kody Griffith all had two singles for the Bulldogs, Blake Hoffman had a triple and Josh Verhoff a single and double.
Jackson Lammers (4-1) took the loss for Miller City as he worked six innings. Ross Kaufman finished the game.
The Bulldogs scored five times in the top of the seventh to pad a 5-0 lead.
Adam Drummelsmith and Hunter Berner both had a single and double for Miller City and Lammers two singles.
