Columbus Grove hands Liberty-Benton first loss

COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove handed Liberty-Benton their first loss of the season Tuesday with a 6-1 non-league win. The game was shortened to six innings due to lightning.
The Bulldogs improved to 9-9, while the Eagles fell to 14-1 on the season.
Columbus Grove scored two runs in each of the second, third and fifth innings, while the Eagles managed a run in the sixth inning.
Ryan Verhoff (2-1) picked up the win for Grove as he worked three innings. Tanner Neu worked two innings and Elisha Jones worked an inning.
Logan Diller had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, while Marcos Olivo had two doubles and an RBI. Josh Verhoff added a single and double.
Parker Lease took the loss for the Eagles as he went four innings. Anthony Webb had a single and double for the Eagles.
KENTON — Ottawa-Glandorf scored an unearned run in the fifth inning on their way to a 1-0 Western Buckeye League win over Kenton Tuesday.
O-G moves to 5-1 in the WBL and 10-4 overall.
Matt Warnecke (3-2) pitched the shutout for O-G as he gave up three hits and struck out three.
Brad Croy, Ben Deitering and Matt Warnecke all had a single for the Titans.
KALIDA — Kalida remained in the thick of the Putnam County League race Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Leipsic.
Kalida moved to 4-1 in the PCL and 5-10 overall and will play at Miller City (4-0 PCL) Friday in a key PCL matchup. Leipsic is 2-3 in the league and 4-11 overall.
Kalida scored single runs in the first and second innings for the win.
Austin Swift picked up the win for Kalida as he gave up one hit and struck out seven.
Trent Gerding and Austin Swift both had a double for the Wildcats.
Neil Haselman took the loss for Leipsic.
Alex Ellerbrock and Justin Ellerbrock both had a double for the Vikings.
