KALIDA - Continental built a comfortable halftime lead, then held off a third quarter charge by Kalida to post a 32-26 Putnam County League win.


The win allows the Pirates to finish 5-2 in the PCL and 15-7 overall, while Kalida is 4-3 in the league and 13-8 overall.

Continental grabbed a 10-2 first quarter lead and were up 17-6 at halftime. A 12-7 run by the Wildcats in the third quarter made it a six point game before both teams scored eight points in the fourth quarter.

Taylor Williamson led Continental with 10 points and Leva Weller had eight points. Sara Deken pulled down nine rebounds for the Pirates.

Jackie Gardner had eight points to lead Kalida.

Continental won the junior varsity game 39-32.

Hardin Northern 30

DOLA - Leipsic secured its hold on second place in the Blanchard Valley Conference Thursday night with a 52-30 win over Hardin Northern.

The Vikings finish BVC play at 7-2 and are 14-8 overall. Leipsic finishes in second place one game behind BVC champion Arcadia.

Leipsic had a 17-11 lead after the opening quarter and were up 31-15 at halftime after a 14-4 run in the second quarter.

Amber Gerdeman led the Vikings with 10 points as 13 Leipsic players scored in the game.

Michaela Curtis scored eight points for the Polar Bears (0-9, 2-20).
