CONTINENTAL - Continental's girls basketball team pulled away from Miller City over the final three quarters Friday night to claim a 56-41 Putnam County League win.
The win moves the Pirates to 2-0 in the PCL and 9-1 overall, while the Wildcats dipped to 1-10 on the season and 0-4 in the league.
Continental had a slim 14-13 lead over the Wildcats after eight minutes of play before slowly building their lead over the final three quarters. The Pirates outscored Miller City 22-16 in the second and third quarters before closing the game with a 20-12 run in the fourth quarter.
Vanessa Koppenhofer led the Pirates with 15 points and Taylor Williamson finished with 13 points.
Melissa Michel recorded a double-double for the Wildcats with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also had five steals in the game.
Continental won the junior varsity contest 44-27.
