RICHMOND, IND.  --  The Defiance College men's golf team improved by 12 strokes in the final round to move up and finish in third place at the Earlham (Ind.) College Spring Invitational held at Forest Hills Country Club in Richmond, Ind.

Thomas More (Ky.) Colllege captured the team title with 616 total strokes (310+306=616), followed by Franklin (Ind.) College in second place at 623 strokes (311+312=623).  Defiance posted a team-total of 648 strokes (330+318=648) to take third place.

Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) shot a pair of 79's to end the two-day event with a total score of 158 strokes and finished in ninth place overall.  Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) carded a 76 in the final round and ended the tournament with 159 strokes (83+76=159) finishing just behind Tinsley in a tie for 10th individually.




Seniors Zach Weber (Ottoville) and Derek Lucas (Eaton) finished in a tie for third on the team with both recording 166 strokes.  Weber fired rounds of 84 and 82 strokes, while Lucas posted rounds of 85 and 81.

Junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) completed the five team-eligible scores with an event-total of 179 strokes (84+95=179).

In addition, sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) competed in the event as an individual and turned in a two-day sum of 182 strokes (86+96=182).

Defiance is scheduled to host its annual spring invitational next Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 22-23 at Eagle Rock Golf Course in Defiance, Ohio.  The first round on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
