Five games dotted the boys basketball schedule Friday night as the second weekend of boys high school basketball got underway around the region.
The Blanchard Valley Conference started conference play Friday night as Pandora-Gilboa hooked up with Van Buren. The Black Knights picked up the win as they held off the Rockets 39-33.
At Ottoville, the Big Green opened their home schedule as the hosted Van Wert. The Cougars outscored the Big Green 15-9 in the fourth quarter for a 43-37 win.
At Miller City, the Wildcats jumped out to a quick lead as they downed Ayersville 64-43 in non-league action. The Wildcats led 15-7 after one quarter and 34-20 at the break.
In Continental, the Pirates held Hicksville to a combined four points in the first and third quarters as they picked up a 43-28 win. The Pirates outscored the Aces 13-2 in both quarters to help them to the win.
Fort Jennings made the trip to Antwerp Friday night and dropped a 56-46 non-league decision.
Saturday has seven games on the boys schedule, including a Putnam County League contest between Ottoville and Columbus Grove. The varsity contest will start a little earlier than normal as the two teams will play just half of a junior varsity game and after a 12 minute fifth and sixth grade game the varsity teams will begin their 20 minute warmup period.
