PUTNAM COUNTY - The high school girls basketball season starts tonight with five games on the schedule.
Among the games being played tonight is a Putnam County League contest between Pandora-Gilboa and Leipsic. The junior varsity contest starts at 6 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow.
The Ottoville girls head to Van Wert to take part in the Tip-Off Classic. The Lady Green are the defending champions of the event and open defense of their title as they face the host Cougars in the second game. The first game has Crestview matching up with Wayne Trace. The two winners return Saturday night to play for the championship, while the night starts with the third place game starting at 6 p.m.
In other action Friday night Miller City plays host to Tinora, while Fort Jennings entertains Lima Perry and Kalida hosts Coldwater.
Saturday will see five more games on the schedule as all nine girls teams will have been in action on the opening weekend.
