Grove softball team is outright PCL champs

CONTINENTAL — Columbus Grove ended Continental's string of six straight Putnam County League softball titles Friday evening with a 12-3 win over the Pirates.
The Bulldogs finish league play at 6-0 and they are 13-7 overall. The Pirates dropped to 2-2 in the league and are 6-9 overall.
Columbus Grove scored twice in the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs added a run in the fourth inning before Continental came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Columbus Grove padded their lead with three runs in the fifth and four runs in the seventh.
Hope Schroeder picked up the win for the Bulldogs. Schroeder had a single and home run, while Katie Roose had a single and triple. Brooke Hoffman had three singles and Deanna Kleman had two singles.
Emma Recker took the loss for the Pirates. McKenna Scott had a double and triple for the Pirates.
