LIMA - Only a tie kept Kalida's golf team from grabbing the runner-up spot at the fourth annual Allen East Springbrook Invitational Saturday.
Kalida and Wapakoneta finished tied for the runner-up spot with scores of 327. The Redskins finished second based on their man score. Clyde won the tournament with a 320 score and Ottoville was fifth with a 336.
Nick Bruns helped the Redskins to the runner-up spot as he shot an 88, while Kalida's fifth score was an 89 by Evan Recker.
Kalida's Zach Erhart tied for the third best score of the day shooting a 77. Zach Watren of Anna and Aaron Tietje of Patrick Henry shared the low round of the day shooting 74s.
Kalida's Brady Mathew shot a 79 to finish among the top 10 players, while Ottoville's Wesley Markward and Ottawa-Glandorf's Carson Williams finished with 80's. Luke Schimmoeller finished the day with an 81 for the Big Green.
