Kalida outlasts St. John's in five games Saturday

KALIDA - Kalida won the final two games Saturday morning to defeat Delphos St. John's 3-2 in non-league volleyball action.Down 2-1 in games, the Wildcats won the final two games 25-18, 15-7 to win the match. St. John's took a 2-1 lead winning game one 25-9 and game three 25-5 while Kalida won the second game 25-22.
Allison Recker had seven kills, three aces and three blocks for Kalida, while Liz Turnwald had six aces and seven kills. Alexis Decker had 13 assists for the Wildcats and Nicole Recker had seven assists.
Kalida won the junior varsity match 25-22, 25-18.
MT. CORY - Miller City won their final match Saturday at the Cory-Rawson Invitational as the Wildcats went 1-2 on the day.
The Wildcats lone win came in their final match as they defeated Vanlue 25-16, 25-20. The Wildcats opened with a 25-7, 25-12 loss to Ada, then fell to Lima Temple Christian 25-16, 25-11.
In the Wildcats (2-14) win Janke vanWezel was 10-of-11 serving with two aces and 8-of-10 hitting with five kills, a solo block and six digs. Kylee Ricker was 29-of-29 setting with eight assists. Skylar Niese had three kills and Makenna Ricker had three aces. Chloe Ruck and Jana Schroeder both had nine digs.
