KALIDA - Ottawa-Glandorf saw a double digit lead trimmed to eight points heading into the fourth quarter of their Division III district semi-final game against Delta.
Just when one thought the Titans could be in trouble, they turned the tide on the Panthers with a quick run to open the final quarter on their way to a 47-32 win over Delta at Kalida High School.
The win sends the Titans (16-8) into the Division III district finals Saturday afternoon against Archbold (23-1) at 3 p.m. at Kalida. The Blue Streaks advanced to the district finals with a 58-36 win over Allen East in the second game Thursday night at Kalida.
The Titans built a 14 point lead in the third quarter at 33-19 before the Panthers (17-8) trimmed it to eight at 33-25. O-G pushed the lead back to 11 on a three point play by Elissa Ellerbrock before Abbie Harris countered with a three point play for Delta.
Ottawa-Glandorf turned the tide the first two minutes of the fourth quarter as they went on a 6-0 run as Kristen Miller had two baskets and Molly Closson scored off a rebound before Brigan Wymer scored for the Panthers. O-G went up by as many as 17 points in the final quarter before settling fro the 15 point win.
"At the timeout we were talking about getting some girls out of the game, but they wanted to stay in," O-G coach Troy Yant said. "They increased the tempo, got some defensive turnovers and got the lead back out where we wanted it. I thought our girls did a good job maintaining their composure, attacking when they gave us that opening and pulling it out when they didn't."
Kristen Miller had 15 points to lead the Titans and Elissa Ellerbrock finished with 11.
Harris had 14 points to lead the Panthers and all scorers.
Archbold and O-G played on February 12 with the Blue Streaks pulling out a 55-53 win over the Titans.
