PUTNAM COUNTY - It's early in the league schedule for Putnam County boys basketball teams. However, Friday night could provide some insight as to which teams could be making a run at league titles this season.
Two of these key games are taking place in Ottawa and Leipsic tonight.
Ottawa-Glandorf is off to a 2-0 start in the Western Buckeye League and has a key challenge in front of them tonight as they host Defiance. The Bulldogs come into the contest at 1-1 in the league after a big win at Celina last weekend and will be looking to defeat the Titans to stay in the league race. The Titans are 8-1 overall and Defiance is 5-3 overall.
In the Blanchard Valley Conference, Leipsic plays host to Vanlue tonight. The Wildcats are coming off their first conference loss last weekend to McComb while the Vikings are 2-0 in conference play. The Vikings are one of three teams in the conference entering play Friday with unbeaten BVC records as they are joined by Arlington (3-0) and Liberty-Benton (2-0).
In other BVC action Friday night Pandora-Gilboa is at McComb. The Rockets are 1-2 in the BVC and 2-8 overall.
There are two Putnam County League contests on the schedule tonight as Miller City visits Continental and Kalida is at Fort Jennings. Kalida is 1-0 in the PCL and Miller City 1-1 as the Pirates and Musketeers are looking for their first league win after suffering losses in their first league games. In a Northwest Conference matchup, Columbus Grove hosts Paulding as they look to stay in the BVC race. The Bulldogs are 1-1 in the NWC standings.
