FORT JENNINGS - Leipsic used a late first quarter spurt Friday night to defeat Fort Jennings 78-52 in Putnam County League action at The Fort.
The win gives the Vikings the outright PCL title as they finish league play at 7-0. It is their first outright PCL title since 1997. Overall, the Vikings are 18-4 on the season, while Ft. Jennings is 2-5 in the PCL and 6-16 overall.
The Vikings were leading the Musketeers 9-8 in the first quarter when the Vikings used an 11-0 run to take a 20-8 lead. Leipsic finished the first quarter with a 25-13 lead and were up 49-28 at the half after a 24-15 second quarter scoring run.
Austin Brown had a big night for the Vikings with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Zach Kuhlman added 15 points and Josh Gerten had nine points, seven of them in the first half.
Bradon Kohli had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Musketeers. Connor Wallenhorst added 13 points and Nick Von Sossan finished with 10 points.
Both teams are back in action Wednesday night in sectional action. The Vikings square off against North Baltimore at Ottawa-Glandorf, while the Musketeers are at Van Wert to face Delphos St. John's.
